Scope of work

KiwiRail/Downer needed to upgrade the Plimmerton Station north of Wellington, including :

• three main turnouts and nine new turnouts,

• a new platform/shelter,

• pedestrian underpass extension

• and all associated overhead line equipment (OLE), signalling and drainage.

Solutions

Marais Laying NZ proposed using its experienced team with the help of our directional drilling machine, 10t excavator and 8t Hydrema to install new undertrack crossings, new ducting and new chambers for signalling.

​

Results
Marais Laying NZ has been installing up to two new undertrack crossings per day and new chambers for signalling despite heavy train traffic in this area.
