Challenges
Libbet used Marais Laying NZ’s services to trench in some of the tunnels between Auckland and Whangarei.
Trenching had to be performed under hard surface conditions and the client wanted a narrow trench – 10 x 10cm.
Planning was tight and operators had to be qualified to work on a KiwiRail project.
Solution
This project was a good opportunity to show the benefits of micro trenching compared to traditional excavation.
Result
This project allowed the company to introduce a new range of solutions for the installation of underground services in difficult areas of the country, while keeping the timeframe shorter and the footprint smaller than previous existing techniques.
