Challenge
The client approached Marais Laying NZ early 2016 to complete some of the fibre network installation around Christchurch. The Network Delivery Alliance (NDA) had challenging objectives in term of deadlines. Building a network infrastructure in an urban area comes with different challenges such as existing services, pedestrians and traffic.
Also, the NDA wanted Marais Laying NZ to complete all the hilly neighbourhoods around Christchurch which are known for their rocky ground conditions.
Solution
With our solid experience in trenching and laying utility services, we managed to provide a turnkey package that met the client's expectations.
Our different range of machines allowed us to work with the hardest ground conditions.
The deadlines put extra pressure on our teams, but this was well managed by obtaining extra resources from other branches in the country when needed.
Result
This project allowed the business to grow and gave us a lot of visibility in the Canterbury region. Following this project, the team has been involved in other fibre installation projects all around New Zealand (Kaikoura, Wanaka, Hawke’s bay, etc).
